Pricing of VW Campervan Hire Scotland

In 2024, we now have a revised pricing structure that is cheaper than in previous years. We are also remaining flexible in when you can make bookings – you can now collect and return on any day (subject to availability) for a minimum of 3 nights hire. The online booking system is currently updated to reflect this system. It can provide you with an up-to-date quotation for the period of hire you want. All you need to do is insert your preferred pick-up date and drop-off date and we will work out a price for you.

Our system will automatically apply any discounts on our standard daily rates wherever applicable. If you would like to find out about other special discount codes, then please keep in touch with our social media platforms where we will post news stories and special offers.

Booking and Payment Details

A non-refundable booking deposit of 25% is required to reserve your campervan. The remainder of the balance is due 42 days prior to hire. Payments can be made online using our secure merchant account. If your hire period is less than 42 days from booking, we will require full payment at time of booking.

Driver Age and Licences

All Drivers must be between 23 and 75, have held a UK or EU drivers licence for at least 2 years with less than 6 penalty points. For UK drivers the recent change in the Law requires that you MUST obtain a reference code from the DVLA or your National Insurance Number when hiring any vehicle in the UK. We will need this code to verify with the DVLA that there are no more than a maximum 6 penalty points on your licence. Without this we may not be able to let the vehicle be hired. Please note for drivers outside Europe we will need approval by our Insurance broker.

Security Deposit

A £750 security deposit is required before your camper hire and will be held over the duration of the hire period. This deposit will be refunded in full within 14 days of the vehicle being returned on time, undamaged, with a clean interior, a full tank of fuel and with all equipment in place and intact. If there is any damage to the van including loss of any equipment, tyre damage, low fuel etc. we reserve the right to use the security deposit as funding towards amending this. The remainder of this security deposit will be returned to the hirer once the damage/loss has been paid for.

Please note that our insurance broker requires that guests arriving from outside the UK or Europe will be subject to approval by our insurance company, this is normally a formality but may incur a higher security deposit.

Collision Damage Waiver Fee (UK and Europe Only)

A collision damage waiver fee (CDW) is optional and available for all vehicles at an extra daily cost of £10 (£70 per week). This extra fee will eliminate the full £750 excess fee to be paid by you in the event of a collision. There is also an option to pay £5 per day (£35 per week) which would reduce the excess fee to be paid by you in the event of a collision to £350.

PLEASE NOTE: The CDW is paid in conjunction with the £750 security deposit. The CDW is offered only to prevent customers having to pay the £750 insurance excess due in the event of a collision.

Fuel Policy

All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of E5 petrol at the start of the hire. Customers must return the vehicle full (with E5 petrol) at the end of the rental. If you return the vehicle part full you will be charged for missing fuel at the end of the rental at the locally determined price along with a collection of fuel fee of £15.

Our classic vehicles MUST BE REFUELLED USING SUPER UNLEADED PETROL (E5). If the newer E10 unleaded petrol is used, there is an increased likelihood of mechanical issues and the potential for breakdown.

Pickup and Parking

If you are driving to collect your campervan we can provide a parking area for your car, however, Kombi Campers will not accept responsibility for loss or damage to the vehicle or its contents, however caused.  If you require parking or would like further guidance in making your travel arrangements please drop us an email at info@kombicampers.co.uk.

Mileage Allowance

Due to the age of our classic vehicles, there is a daily journey allowance of 100 miles which will ensure that our vans do not get overly tired.
